The Spitsbergen Marathon is a popular race that attracts long-distance runners from Norway and many other countries. Every year, on the first weekend of June, runners from around the world gather in Longyearbyen to participate in the world's northernmost marathon on solid ground. Participants can choose between three distances: marathon, half marathon, and the Spitsbergen Mile (10 km).
